Jefferson Davis
|
Jeff
Davis was born in Vancouver, Washington in 1962. According
to family tradition he is related to his namesake, Jefferson
Davis, President of the Confederacy. Jeff is an Army brat
who grew up playing in and around the Vancouver Barracks.
This led to an interest in the military and history. Late night
horror movies led to an interest in ghosts, mythology, and
archaeology.
After a
three year enlistment in the U.S. Army, Jeff returned to college
where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology. For
several years Jeff worked for the U.S. Forest Service as an
archaeologist in the Gifford Pinchot, the Boise, the Umatilla,
and Mt. Hood National Forests.
In 1995
Jeff and his wife moved to England for a year where he earned
his MA in Archaeology at the University of Sheffield. His
thesis topic was the lifestyle of the Viking settler in
Greenland. That is where he received the inspiration for
his publishing company name, Norsemen Ventures.
In addition
to his work as a freelance archaeologist and researching books
on the paranormal, Jeff is planning on traveling to Greenland
and producing a multimedia CD on the Vikings who settled there.

A
Haunted Tour Guide to the Pacific Northwest
There are some great accounts of haunted places here. For example, a
spirit at the Carson Hot Springs Hotel in Carson, Washington is an
elderly lady who is very persnickety about how the beds are made. If the
chambermaids don't do a good job, she pulls the bedcovers off as soon as
they leave the room.
Another interesting place is the Temple Theater in Tacoma, where a
janitor was killed in the elevator shaft. He now rides the elevator up
and down, stopping at random floors to open the doors and invite people
in. "A Haunted Tour Guide to the Pacific Northwest" contains these and
many more stories!

Mountains. In addition to ghost stories, there are

Ghosts, Critters & Sacred
Places of Washington and Oregon II
This is
the third book in Jeff Davis' continuing series of books
on paranormal events in the Pacific Northwest. These are
true stories, taken from Native American legends, books,
newspapers and first person interviews.
Jeff has collected stories from many
of the major cities of Washington and Oregon; Seattle,
Portland, Spokane and the Tri-Cities as well as many
smaller cities and towns. There are military ghosts,
playful ghosts, frightening ghosts and ghostly animals.
Many of the haunted places in this book are open to the
public as restaurants, pubs, theaters, hotels and
museums.
There
are also strange stories about the many semi-mystical
"critters" of the Pacific Northwest. There are new
Bigfoot sightings, rains of salamanders, and strange sea
creatures in the Puget Sound.
